Project Overview

Cypress Apartments on 1435 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 is a six-story, 39,000 sq. ft. affordable housing community in San Diego’s East Village that provides 62 studio units and one manager’s unit for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Cypress was designed to address the need for affordable housing in San Diego’s East Village district. Cypress targets special needs populations with an average of 40% AMI rents and offers its residents on-site services managed by Father Joe’s Villages. Each residence includes a private kitchen and bathroom, while shared amenities such as community kitchens, lounges, and outdoor gathering areas foster stability and connection. ELEN Consulting provided electrical and lighting design services that not only improved the building’s energy performance but also created a comfortable, well-lit environment where residents can feel secure and at home.
