Project Overview
Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego is the oldest and most prominent Marine Corps training installation on the West Coast. It is responsible for the initial training of over 21,000 new recruits annually. The P400 Photovoltaic Upgrade at MCRD introduced a 1.6 MWdc (STC) solar photovoltaic array mounted at a 17° tilt facing southwest. The system connects through six 260 kW inverters housed in two dedicated utility buildings. ELEN Consulting served as the Designer of Record for electrical and PV design, to deliver a resilient renewable energy system that strengthens the base’s energy reliability and readiness.
